Saint Flavie on the Gaspe
Today we said goodbye to our wonderful host at la Male Baie and took the ferry across the St Lawrence to Riviere du Loup. The weather continues to hold and it was a beautiful ride to begin the Gaspe leg of the journey. We drove up the coast stopping at a local cheese store, checked out Bic Bay then on to Rimouski.
From the ferry station at St. Simion we say good bye to the North Shore
The countryside today was flatter than the north
shore. It looks similar to the contours around Stettler but the farms are long and
narrow. This time of year it is very
pretty with varying strips of colour. For a city I had never heard of Rimouski was a
disappointment and too big for my comfort so we pressed on. I am surprised at the number of villages, almost continuous, along the
coast. Hope found a good motel here in Flavie.
It has a beautiful view of the water. We
had a good dinner, fresh fish, fancy dessert and a beautiful
sunset. Our rooms are clean, modest and
the price is right. We had been told
that it wouldn’t be busy on the Gaspe this time of year but this is a bustling
little place.
